Xbox confirmed its free digital for anyone purchasing the latest hardware. It’s a great win.
What’s new in hardware? It’s not new hardware, just a wireless controller that looks incredibly swanky. It’s the Stormcloud Vapor Special Edition Controller, Microsoft announced it yesterday.
The Stormcloud Vapor Special Edition is not as flashy and slick looking in the trailer. It does not constantly emit static or lightning (which, on the whole, is good). However, it has a beautiful navy and black design with swirly cloud-like clouds, matching buttons, and grips. Each controller will have a slightly different color swirl, making it unique. It’s not as impressive as the Starfield limited edition controller but I still think it is very cool. The free also helps.
According to a Xbox Wire post, when you connect your Stormcloud Vapor Special Edition Controller to your Xbox Series X/S it will unlock a dynamic background that matches your Xbox Home Screen. What a neat idea! This might be a good thing for Xbox s that absolutely hates the Home Screen UI.
This background is not clearly stated if it can only be used once on each controller. Eurogamer explains that if not, then you can share the background with friends.
Pre-order the Stormcloud Vapor special edition controller for PS64.99 (about $69.99). It will be released on August 8.
